Andrea (Andy) Radice, who was a retired local authority officer and Camden Council leaseholder, made contact with our organisation in July 2022, due to having extensive experience of working with housing associations in his job at Lambeth Council in south London.
Andy was very keen to use his knowledge and experience of this sector of housing to help us develop our work in this area, and soon got stuck in with our Management Committee, which he formally joined at the Annual General Meeting in September of that year.
Despite contracting Covid-19, he continued to be a very active committee member in 2023, becoming our representative at meetings of the London Tenants Federation (LTF) and a co-opted member of Camden Council’s Housing Scrutiny Committee.
It was during discussions about this committee that Andy announced he had been diagnosed with Leukemia and that it was terminal. Shortly after that, his partner got in touch and told us that he had passed away after a short stay in hospital, which came as a complete shock to both our staff and his fellow committee members.
Andy was mild-mannered and amiable, very quiet but always approachable. He instantly fitted in with the rest of the management committee, and his commitment to the interests of private as well as housing association tenants was evident early on.
It is sad that he was only involved with us at Camden Federation of Private Tenants for a short period of time, but his valuable contribution to our work will never be forgotten and he will be greatly missed.
